Artfest film: Waste Land 30 Sept & 8 Oct

This year’s film offering from ArtFest is another international award winner – this time a documentary.  ‘Waste Land’ is a fascinating artistic journey and thought provoking experience. You can see a trailer on ‘You Tube’.

About the film
Artist Vic Muniz brings together the rubbish pickers of Brazil and documentary filmmaker Lucy Walker for a moving and dignified tribute to the transformative power of art and imagination. With a score by Moby this film has won over 30 awards in the last year including ‘Audience’ awards at the Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals.

Dates & Times
The film will be shown twice during Ryedale ArtFest 2011 at the Reading Room, Appleton le Moors.

Friday 30th September  at 7.30pm, doors open 6.30pm.

Saturday 8th October at 7.30pm, doors open 6.30pm

This evening event also features the Duckett & Jeffreys’ Touring Art Caravan exhibiting small scale contemporary work. D&J will be at the Reading Room from 6.30 pm. You’re welcome to visit the touring gallery even if you’re not intending to watch the film.

Tickets £5 – plus refreshments on sale. All profits to the Reading Room. Note  - nearest loo is at the village hall about 60 yards distance.
